Hey Rod,
Great to see the blog continuing
What's your impression of this new found soccer fandom in Seattle? Is it simply 'fairweather' and 'of the moment' fans (as has long been accused in Seattle) or do you think there really is a deep following for this club and soccer? Is there overlap to the old professional soccer team in Seattle (which I never covered or saw)?
It just seems to me, from the pictures and media coverage, that this is a more over the top expression of sports patronage than I've almost ever seen in Seattle (save, maybe, 'the 12th man' and the occasional UW hoops run)
It is impressive, and gives me some joy to see this back home (now living in europe .. where there are real soccer hooligans .. they smashed a mcdonalds a block from my house earlier this week in fact) but I'm skeptical. Hope it is real though .. would be a step up I think. (gah I've only been here a month or two and I'm preaching euro football!)
Ps you might want to clean the old sensor re: pic 3, but don't ask me I just clone out the dust on my work... :)
Cheers man,
Matt
